Services Offered by Pediatric Wizards
Pediatric Wizards offers a wide range of pediatric services for patients up to 21 years of age. We adhere to the suggested schedule guidelines for well child care as outlined by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Our services include general pediatrics, well child checkups, preventive medicine, immunizations, sports and school physicals.
Well Child Check Ups
Well child visits are important, even when your child is healthy. They are important in making sure your child is growing and developing properly. We schedule these appointments to allow Dr. Helft time to evaluate and discuss your child’s health and any concerns and questions that you may have.
Pediatric Wizards recommends the following well-visits:
- Within the first 2 days of being discharged from the nursery
- 1 week of age
- 1 month of age
- 2 months of age
- 4 months of age
- 6 months of age
- 9 months of age
- 12 months of age
- 15 months of age
- 18 months of age
- 24 months of age
- Every year of age thereafter
Immunizations
We feel very strongly that vaccinating children on schedule with currently available vaccines is absolutely the right thing to do for all children and young adults. All children and young adults should receive all of the recommended vaccines according to the schedule published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Academy of Pediatrics. We believe, based on all available literature, evidence, and current studies, that vaccines do not cause autism or other developmental disabilities.
In some cases, we may alter the schedule to accommodate parental concerns or reservations. Please be advised, however, that delaying or “breaking up the vaccines” to give one or two at a time over two or more visits goes against expert recommendations, and can even put your child at risk for serious illness (or even death) and goes against our medical advice as providers at Pediatric Wizards. Such additional visits will require additional co-pays on your part.
If you should absolutely refuse to vaccinate your child(ren) despite all our efforts, we will kindly ask you to find another health care provider who shares your views.
